Wax Poetics and Identification of Music came together through a shared love of exploring those lesser-known records, tracks, and artists. We’re happy to launch our mix series in partnership together.
Over the course of an hour, Ouissam guides us through an impeccably curated collage of underground disco favorites—paradise for crate diggers and sample hunters of all persuasions.
ABOUT OUISSAM:
Ouissam’s résumé is as impressive as they come. The French-born selector has spent much of his career in Asia, founding Cliché Records in Hong Kong, and launching the festival Equation on the back of its success. Before leaving Hong Kong, he founded the Homesick label, which would become Fragrant Harbour. Through this imprint, he champions a hugely diverse mix of music—everything from the most unexpected disco edits to pulsating, binaural techno.
Eventually, Ouissam settled in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he showcases this open-minded approach to curation in his DJ sets. Here he cofounded Savage, the bar and club that’s become something of an institution in the region. From within its walls, Ouissam hosts the world’s most exciting up-and-coming house, techno, and disco talent and operates a well-beloved monthly queer night, Snug.
With a highly decorated background and tireless devotion to his craft, Ouissam was an obvious choice to launch the series.
Enjoy!
